RePS App Privacy Policy
Thank you for participating in the SMART study, testing an app-based intervention called RePS. This privacy policy assumes you have read and signed the consent form for this study. For more study information, please visit the study website at thrivelabsmartstudy.ucsf.edu.

When does this Privacy Policy apply?

This Privacy Policy applies to information that you provide directly through the RePS app.

What data does RePS collect?

The RePS phone app collects data for the primary purpose of research. The data collected through the app include participants’ responses to the questions and activities included in the RePS app, linked to your User ID. Additional data collected include the date and time of each answer or response.

How will the data collected through RePS be used?

The data collected from the RePS app are used for the primary purpose of understanding changes in mental health and attention for users of the app. In addition to the main research questions, we may also use your data for other analyses focused on improving our understanding of risk and resilience factors for posttraumatic stress symptoms and health outcomes more generally.

How will the data collected through RePS be stored and shared?

The data collected from RePS app will be kept in a secure database indefinitely, behind a UCSF firewall. After removing information that can identify you personally, we may share the data with other researchers so they can use them to advance our understanding of the app itself and health in general. We will not share your name or any other personal information that would let the other researchers know who you are. We will not ask you for additional permission to share this de-identified information.

What if I no longer want to participate?

At any time, you may decide to withdraw your consent from the study you are currently enrolled in or from participating in any future studies. If you decide to withdraw, no further data will be collected. However, the data you have already provided while participating will not be removed.

How will I be notified of any changes to this Privacy Policy?

The Privacy Policy will be updated on the SMART study website: thrivelabsmartstudy.ucsf.edu.
